Empowered Connections™
Trauma-Informed Care Education & Workforce Development

Welcome to Empowered Connections™, a trauma-informed care education and workforce development initiative of The Empowerment Foundation. Through evidence-informed training, community partnership, and practical tools, we equip healthcare professionals and community organizations to build trust, strengthen communication, and create more compassionate, culturally responsive care experiences.

Why Trauma-Informed Care Matters ⭐
Empowered Connections™ helps healthcare professionals and community organizations understand how trauma shapes health, behavior, communication, and trust. Through practical, evidence-informed training, participants learn strategies to create safer, more compassionate, and culturally responsive care experiences while reducing the risk of re-traumatization.
The Trauma-Informed Mindset ⭐
Traditional systems often ask, "What's wrong with this person?" Trauma-informed care teaches us to ask a different question: "What happened?" and "What does this person need to feel safe?"
This simple shift transforms how we communicate, build trust, and support healing—from patient interactions to organizational culture.

Who We Train
Community Health Workers, Doulas & Peer Support Professionals
Community Health Workers, doulas, peer support specialists, home visitors, and other frontline professionals play a critical role in supporting individuals and families through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. Empowered Connections™ equips participants with practical trauma-informed strategies to strengthen advocacy, improve communication, build trusting relationships, and help families feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout their care journey.
Healthcare Professionals
Empowered Connections™ provides nurses, physicians, social workers, therapists, behavioral health professionals, and interdisciplinary care teams with evidence-informed tools to recognize the impact of trauma, reduce re-traumatization, and deliver more compassionate, equitable, and person-centered care. Participants learn practical approaches that strengthen patient-provider relationships, improve communication, and foster safer, healing-centered healthcare environments.
